Listening is a fundamental language skill,so English listening has always been an essential part in English examinations.In order to explore the effective listening teaching methods,the author uses memetics-based listening teaching method to help the students with English learning difficulties to improve their listening competence.The research aims to solve three research questions as follows:(1)Can memetics-based listening teaching method have an influence on students with English learning difficulties?(2)With the help of memetics-based listening teaching method,can students with English learning difficulties change their attitude towards listening comprehension?(3)Are there any problems in the application of memetics-based listening teaching in senior high school?This research is based on memetics theory,Krashen's input hypothesis and Swain's output hypothesis.The author chooses 68 Senior One students with English learning difficulties in Fuzhou No.40 Middle School.During the experiment,the author uses memetics-based listening teaching method in the experimental class and the traditional teaching method in the control class.With the assistance of questionnaires,tests and interview,the author collects the research data which are later calculated by SPSS 23.0.The relevant results of the study show that memetics-based listening teaching method does exert positive influence on English listening.The major findings are as follows:(1)With the help of memetics-based listening teaching method,the students with English learning difficulties change their attitude towards English listening comprehension.Through the analysis of two questionnaires collected before and after the experiment,the author can easily find that before the experiment some students with English learning difficulties feel so nervous that they can not complete their listening tasks.After listening training,they become more and more active in the English listening practice and like to ask teachers some questions about English listening comprehension.(2)The students with English learning difficulties also know that they should pay much attention to accumulating linguistic memes in their daily life,and that enough input is important in English listening comprehension,which can help them acquire usefulknowledge.Under such training,the students with English learning difficulties try their best to strengthen confidence in English listening comprehension.(3)The author collects and analyzes the listening scores of the students with English learning difficulties before and after the experiment.According to the data,the subjects' listening post-test scores are higher than the pre-test scores,which manifests that memetics-based English listening teaching can improve listening ability of the students with English learning difficulties,especially in terms of the abilities of listening words and sentences.
