In technical interpreting, the acquisition of terms in pre-task preparation plays a vital part, owing to the fact that any inappropriate interpretation of technical terms may lower the credibility of the interpreter and weaken the impact of the interpreting. In practice, however, interpreters are often not given enough time to prepare, manage, and utilize the terms needed;and most interpreters resort to traditional methods, which are laborious and time-consuming.With the purpose of studying the advantages of a corpus-based terminological preparation method compared with the traditional method, this essay will mainly discuss two questions:1)the specific operational process of the corpus-based pre-task terminological preparation method;2)the effect it has on the interpreting and interpreter. After examining two of his interpreting practices at BDIA,the author concluded that, compared with traditional terminological preparation method, the corpus-based terminological preparation can help to improve the accuracy, fluency, and completeness of the language;it also eased the interpreter's stress and boost his confidence and had great usability and broad applicability.
