A Study On The Application Of Multimodal Teaching In The English Reading Teaching In Primary School

Since the launch of the new curriculum reform,the English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2013 edition)have put forward higher and more specific requirements for English reading teaching in primary schools.The effectiveness of English reading teaching in primary school will have an important impact on students' English learning in the future.Primary English reading should also change the reading teaching centered on knowledge and skills,and construct a reading curriculum based on core literacy.Multimodal teaching is the teaching mode that in the process of teaching design use two or more symbolic resources and means to present the teaching content.It is helpful to develop students' reading ability to different modal discourses.This study is aiming to explore the following two aspects:1.What are the effects of multimodal teaching on improving students' English reading in primary school?2.What are the changes of students' attitudes towards English reading after application of multimodal teaching in primary school?In this study,the research instruments are pre-test,post-test,questionnaire and interview.Two classes in grade six were selected.The researchers used multimodal teaching mode in the experimental class,while the control class used traditional teaching method.Both classes were taught by the researcher and both used the textbook of the new curriculum standard.The results show that the multimodal teaching have improved students' English reading performance.Students' attitudes towards English reading have changed significantly.The multimodal teaching can improve students' comprehensive language application ability and improve their core quality of English.the multimodal teaching can enhance students' participation in the class,help students understand and memorize the text and stimulate students' interest in learning.
