Guided by the key competencies in English as a foreign language,this thesis observes and analyses the language practice activities in the seven video lessons of the 12 th Junior High School English Classroom Teaching Demonstration Classes in2017 to answer the following two research questions: First,what are the characteristics of the language practice activities of the English exemplary lessons in junior high schools? Second,what are junior high school students' views and opinions on the language practice activities of normal English lessons?By analyzing the classroom observation results,the characteristics of the language practice activities of English exemplary lessons in junior high schools are summarized as follows:(1)The teaching method of language practice activities is various;(2)Language skills are the main content of language practice activities,emphasizing language knowledge;(3)The main type of language practice activities is meaningful practice;(4)The main organization form of language practice activities is individual activities,emphasizing group activities;(5)The feedback form of language practice activities is various.Through the analysis of the interview results with ten students in school,the thesis summarizes that students hold the following views and opinions on the language practice activities of English normal lessons:(1)Multimedia is more conducive to their learning;(2)The practice times of language skills should be increased;(3)The practice times of communicative practice should be increased properly;(4)Peer activities and group activities are more helpful to their languageexpression;(5)Both positive and negative feedback forms are helpful to their learning.Based on results of the above observations and interviews,the following five suggestions are put forward that junior high school English teachers should:(1)Ensure the optimization and diversification of teaching methods: the first is to renew the teaching concept;the second is to pay attention to the innovation of teaching methods;(2)Consolidate language knowledge and increase practice activities with language skills as the main content: the first is to clarify the relationship between language knowledge and language skills;the second is to improve students' language skills based on language knowledge;(3)Focus on meaningful practice: the first is to increase the intensity of meaningful and communicative practice;the second is to attach importance to the dominant role of students and flexibly set up language practice activities;(4)Encourage group activities and peer activities: the first is to plan group activities and peer activities according to what students have learned;the second is that reasonable grouping is the guarantee for the success of group and peer activities;(5)Give consideration to different feedback forms: the first is teachers should enrich the knowledge related to the feedback form;the second is to use the feedback form of language practice activities properly,accurately and effectively.
