Analysis On The Diversified Factors Affecting The Creative Thinking Of Diego And Rivera Murals Painting

Diego Rivera(1886-1957)is the most treasured painter in Mexico,who was one of the most great muralists in 20 th century,and also the initiator and leader of the famous mural movement in Mexico,and besides,he was called the the three mural heroes in Mexico with David Siqueiros and Orozco,who had the honorable title of father of mural in Mexico.As an artist in Latin America,focused by the whole world,and regarded as the art giant of “Mexico Art Renaissance”,he must have a magic growing and mature process of his art thought,and from the boy to the man,from a ordinary man to a great person,his education,guidance,and influence were the decisive factors for his achievements.As to this research,according to the literature,contents of his works,and chronological record of events of Rivera,his life engaging in art is divided into two stages,which are the stage of learning and growth and stage of art peak,and among them,there are also some periods,such as period of genius,period of study in Europe,and period of peak creation,and then,it has a detailed analysis and clearance on the events and figures with guidance and leading significance in painting and art to Rivera in every period.By means of document research method and image contrast method,taking time as the axis,it interprets the representative works of his life,then,it can establish a skeleton about the establishment,development,and change of his thought on the mural creation,and then it can find the decisive factors to analyze his painting,especially the style features,technical features,and factors of his mural creation.In the first chapter of the thesis,it illustrates the extraordinary career of the mural master,Rivera,and also his connection with mural movement in Mexico and background,and also the changes and features of his creation thoughts in the five important and representative styles of mural movement.In the second chapter,it demonstrates the diverse influencing factors for the growth and development of Rivera's art thought indifferent periods,including the training on neoclassical oil painting during the period of San Carlos art enlightenment education,worldview leading of the graphic artist,Posada,steeped from the Spanish classical painting technique with El Greco and Goya as representatives when studying in Europe to the post-impressionism,and transforming to the preference to cubism,during this period,he had deep research on the art thoughts and techniques of expression of these masters,including Cezanne,Gauguin,Delauney,and Mondrian,had clear direction on his development in painting,and jumped out of the closed and indifferent bound of cubism and returned to his country,and later,he integrated the classical style of mural of Giotto,who was the founder of Italian Renaissance,with the local element of pre-Colombian period to form his own style,his creation thought was also promoted from the “art for art's sake” to“content-oriented”,and meanwhile,enlightened by October Revolution successfully,he devoted to the proletarian revolutionary movement in Mexico and jointed into the Communist Party there in 1922.Later,he created a lot of mural works with revolutionary significance as weapons,and advocated for the equality and freedom oftoiling masses.As to the third chapter,the authors from himself,and with the combination on the study of professional techniques,application of national culture,and relationship between architectural space and mural,he points out the inspiration and significance of mural by Rivera on our current study and research on mural art.
