In literature,Chinese American literature has been increasingly accepted by many domestic scholars, which means that cultural exchanges between China and America have received more and more attention. For Chinese American writers, the charm of their works is mainly thanks to the frequent and successful switching between the two languages and cultures. So far,the research on this kind of literature in domestic academic circles has mostly focused on its literary value and cross-cultural functions, and there are also a few scholars who have discussed its translation. However,no scholars have combined the back-translation,the comparison of three Chinese translations of The Joy Luck Club with the cultural differences. The author combines back-translation-related culture with comparison of Chinese translations to study the cultural differences based on The Joy Luck Club and its three Chinese translations.Amy Tan,a famous Chinese-American writer and the writer of The Joy Luck Club, has always been known for her skillful writing skills and unique writing style. This paper uses The Joy Luck Club as the research object, and summarizes the cultural differences reflected in the original text of The Joy Luck Club, including different beliefs and customs, different behaviors, different views of marriage and different filial piety culture. In addition,it also concludes the reflections and reasons of cultural conflicts and integration caused by the cultural differences between China and America in the original text. The author extracts examples from the original text and the existing three Chinese translations, adopting a comparative approach to study the back-translation-related cultural differences reflected in three Chinese translations of The Joy Luck Club. This paper is based on the theory of back-translation.The study finds that different translators have different strategies and methods of back-translation-related culture differences;they have different translations of person names containing cultural differences and their different cultural understandings of the original text. And the reasons for the different Chinese translations are as follows: different translators have different cultural presuppositions, different writing styles and some translators have omission of context in the original text.Studies show that for cultural differences,we should have an attitude of taking the essence and rejecting the dregs. And the researches in this paper enable us to learn some better back-translation methods, but also make us find some omissions of back-translation.This provides a new perspective for the cultural translation of Chinese-American works, and it shows that the study of back-translation-related cultural differences has a broad prospect and still needs to be improved by experts and scholars.
