Being a significant part in the process of English language acquisition,writing has been widely concerned by many experts and teachers.However,in middle school,many English teachers do not delicate much time to correct students' English writing,so students cannot obtain the feedback of their English composition promptly,which led to slow progress on their English writing ability.However,the emergence of Automatic Writing Evaluation(AWE)system makes it possible to solve this problem.This study attempts to explore the effects of AWE system that is applied in senior high school and to address the practical problems by combining advanced educational concepts and sustainable technology-enhanced language learning.In this article,the following three problems will be addressed:Question 1: What are students' perceptions towards AWE feedback and teacher feedback on students' writing in terms of accuracy?Question 2: Which feedback is more successful in improving students' learner autonomy in writing,AWE feedback or teacher feedback?Question 3: Which feedback is more successful in improving students' writing proficiency,AWE feedback or teacher feedback?This empirical study was carried out in a senior middle school in Shuozhou City,Shanxi Province,from September 5,2019 to November 25,2019,for a total of 12 weeks.Eighty-four students from two parallel classes in the third grade were selected as subjects.One of the two parallel classes was selected as the experimental class and the other one was as the control class.Research methods included questionnaires,pre-test,post-test and interviews.All the data were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively,with SPSS 19.0.The results showed that students' writing autonomy was improved from the low level to the medium level,and the writing performance of the students can be improved.Therefore,obtaining feedback by using the AWE system can improve students' English writing proficiency.What is more,the results show that participants in EC hold a positive perception towards AWE feedback on the improvement of students' writing in terms of accuracy.Finally,the enlightenment and suggestion of the study are discussed,and hoped to be beneficial for students' learning,the teaching of the teachers and the future research.
