| In recent years,with the development of information technology and the continuous expansion of many colleges and universities,college students who are in long-distance relationship have gradually become a group who are worthy of attention.Although some studies have pointed out that being in a long-distance relationship is of benefit to the relationship satisfaction of both lovers,it is still difficult for some college students to maintain long-distance relationship.And it is mainly caused by more and more misunderstandings as a result of the lack of communication between lovers.Satir?s communication theory put forward the concept of communication stances.Satir put forward the leveling communication stance and inconsistent communication stances according to whether people can take into account ?themselves?,?others? and ?situations? in interpersonal communication at the same time.The four inconsistent communication stances are: placating,irrelevant,blaming and super-reasonable.She argued that communication stances may be closely related to the individual?s family environment and growth experience,and it may have an important impact on interpersonal relationships.According to the attachment theory,both of attachment anxiety and attachment avoidance also have a similar pattern with early parent-child attachment.Therefore,this study speculates that communication stances may be affected by the level of individual?s attachment anxiety and attachment avoidance.What?s more,previous studies have pointed out that adult attachment plays an important role in predicting interpersonal communication,and the level of attachment anxiety and attachment avoidance may affect their romantic relationship.Therefore,this study guesses that some of the effects of adult attachment on relationship satisfaction are likely to be through communication stances.In order to verify the above conjecture,this study discusses the relationship among the above variables.In this study,questionnaires were used to measure variables.Experiences in Close Relationships Inventory,communication stance scale and the Quality of Relationship Index are respectively used to measure adult attachment,communication stances and relationship satisfaction.Among them,the communication stance scale was revised by data of 295 subjects in pre experiment on the basis of the Interpersonal Communication Scale compiled by Lu Yiman.After item analysis,reliability test and validity test,the communication stances scale of 23 items was obtained.After testing,the reliability and validity of three scales are in line with the standard of psychological research.In this study,357 college students who are in long-distance relationships were selected as subjects.SPSS22.0 was used to analyze the data by descriptive statistics,independent sample t-test,one-way ANOVA,correlation analysis,regression analysis and collateral mediating analysis.Collateral mediating analysis is done through Bootstrap in the PROCESS plug-in.The results showed that:(1)Attachment anxiety has significant differences in gender,grade,the length of long distance relationship and communication type,and so is attachment avoidance.(2)Leveling,placating,irrelevant,blaming and super-reasonable differ in gender,grade,the length of long-distance relationship and communication type.Besides,there are significant rural-urban differences in super-reasonable.(3)There are significant differences in relationship satisfaction in terms of gender,grade,the length of long-distance relationship and communication type.(4)Both of attachment anxiety and attachment avoidance are significantly positively correlated with placating,irrelevant,blaming and super-reasonable,and negatively correlated with leveling.There is a significant positive correlation between leveling and relationship satisfaction,and there are significant negative correlations between placating,irrelevant,blaming,super-reasonable and relationship satisfaction.Both of attachment anxiety and attachment avoidance are significantly negatively correlated with relationship satisfaction.(5)After mediating effect test,all of leveling,blaming and super-reasonable play a partial mediating effect between attachment anxiety and romantic relationship satisfaction,which are collateral mediating effects.Leveling and blaming play a partial mediating effect between attachment avoidance and romantic relationship satisfaction,and which are collateral mediating effects.As a result,communication stances are indeed affected by adult attachment,which will have an impact on romantic relationship satisfaction.In other words,individuals with high level of attachment anxiety or attachment avoidance may show more blaming,super-reasonable and other inconsistent communication stances and less consistent communication stances in long-distance relationships,which will reduce romantic relationship satisfaction.Therefore,when dealing with problems of college students in long-distance relationships,it is suggested to focus on their communication stances based on considering the situation of attachment anxiety and attachment avoidance of both sides.Then encourage them to show more consistent communication stance,and reduce inconsistent communication stances such as blaming and super-reasonable in daily communication,so as to improve their relationship satisfaction more effectively,and promote the long-term development of the romantic relationship. |
