The Influence Of Adult Attachment On Marital Satisfaction: The Mediating Role Of Romantic Relationship Memory

Marriage problem is one of the hot topics in our society at present.In recent years,the divorce rate in China has remained high,showing a continuous upward trend.Investigating the psychological mechanism of this problem has become an important topic in the academic circles of our country.This study explored the impact of adult attachment on marital satisfaction by using romantic relationship memory as the intermediary variable.The research content and application scope of the related theories are enriched so as to promote the study of the psychological mechanism of marriage problems in the academic circles.In this study,411 subjects in a community in south of Jiangsu were investigated by using the Experiences in Close Relationships Inventory,Positive Affect and Negative Affect Schedule and the Locke-Wallace Marital Adjustment Test.Through statistical analysis,the following conclusions are drawn:(1)There are significant differences in age,marital status,marriage age and education level in adult attachment.There is no significant difference in gender and number of children.(2)There are significant differences in age,marital status,marriage age,number of children and education degree,and there is no significant difference in gender.(3)There is a significant negative correlation between adult attachmen(attachment avoidance and attachment anxiety)t and marital satisfaction;romantic relationship memory has a significant positive correlation with adult attachment(attachment avoidance and attachment anxiety);romantic relationship memory has a significant negative correlation with marital satisfaction,positive emotion is positively correlated with marital satisfaction,negative emotion has a significant negative correlation with marital satisfaction.(4))Romantic relationship memory plays a partial mediating role between adult attachment(attachment avoidance and attachment anxiety)and marital satisfaction.This study concluded that attachment avoidance and attachment anxiety can affect romantic relationship memory,and then have an impact on marital satisfaction.
