The Research On Female Initiation Themes In The Short Stories Of Angela Carter

Angela Carter(Angela Carter,1940-1992),in the second half of the 20 th century,is the most creative and controversial legendary writer in the history of English literature,who especially famous for her imaginative and subversive feminist reconstruction of fairy tales.In order to study Carter's short stories as a whole and try to explore the concrete embodiment of the theme of female growth in her reconstruction of fairy tales and Carter's feminist thought with the relationship of gender power as the core,this thesis attempts to analyze the internal and external environment of female growth and the final subject construction of women on the basis of the detailed reading of the texts.This thesis consists of three parts: introduction,main body and conclusion.The introduction part explains the domestic and foreign research status of Angela Carter at present,introduces Carter's female consciousness that is reflected in her works,and makes a brief summary of the growth novel.The main body part is divided into three chapters: In the first chapter,it focus on the ignorant period of female growth,this part analyzes female internal mental activities,emotional experience and impact when they get along with people and perceive the human nature in their growth.The second chapter analyzes the block period of female growth,which is caused by the oppression and control of their husband,lover,and parents in the process of getting along with them as well as the unequal status between them.The third chapter discusses the mature period of female growth.After getting rid of the internal and external difficulties in their growth,where should women go? In the meanwhile,women are already in a relatively mature state at this period,but their growth is still continuing.The final conclusion part summarizes the whole thesis.
