| Angela Carter is one of the creative female writers in the history of English literature.She often creates literature from the perspective of female’s gender,with the aim of observing and examining female’ emotions and destiny.As a unique life experience,growth provides unlimited creative space for literature and becomes an important literary theme.This thesis mainly studies the female initiation themes in Carter’s novels,puts the thinking of the problems into ethical relations,exposes the survival dilemma encountered by female in their growth,and explores the ways of female’s growth in Carter’s novels,thus revealing Carter’s unique contribution in expressing the female initiation themes.In the first part of the thesis,under the background of family ethics,combined with the novel text,it analyzes the survival dilemma faced by female in marriage,parent-child relationship and kinship relationship,and the impact of the dilemma on female’s growth,and highlights all kinds of injuries and tribulations suffered by female under male chauvinism.female will go through a tortuous and difficult process in order to change their living conditions.In order to grow up,female will adopt different ways to grow up,and female will choose to break ethical taboos,such as incest and patricide.Therefore,the second part aims to describe the growth of female in Carter’s novels because of breaking ethical taboos.In the novel text,incest and patricide help female grows up and to some extent achieve the purpose of resisting male chauvinism,but female also pays a heavy price for it.The third part of the thesis focuses on the ways of female’s growth under the ethical concept.Within the ethical norms,female can choose the way of awakening and rising up and directly resist male violence in the family;Female can also run away bravely,accumulate the strength of growth in the process of escape,and change the difficulty of survival;Or female creates a good family ethics environment and help female grows through the transmission of love and mutual help of love;Or male and female grow together to achieve gender equality,which is the most perfect way of growth described by Carter,because this way achieves the perfect integration of ethics and growth.The last part is the conclusion of the thesis,which will summarize Carter’s female initiation themes,realize the significance of Carter’s ethical writing and its enlightenment to real life. |
