With the continuous development of globalization,English has become an international lingua franca.In the context of English lingua franca,the relationship between language and culture has undergone new changes.English has become a means for communicators to express native culture in the equal and two-way cross-cultural communication.Under such circumstances,General High School English Curriculum Standards(2017 Edition)defines cultural knowledge as "Chinese and foreign cultural knowledge" and expands the scope of "culture" in high school English teaching.The curriculum standard emphasizes that English teaching should help students compare and judge Chinese and foreign cultures,identify with national culture on the basis of understanding cultural differences,and strengthen students' cultural confidence,so that students can actively use English to spread Chinese culture in cross-cultural communication.Therefore,it is an important task to carry out Chinese culture teaching in high school TEFL classroom and cultivate students' ability to understand and express Chinese culture.Only by understanding the current status of Chinese culture teaching in high school TEFL classroom can we provide more targeted strategies and suggestions for the realization of the relevant goals in the subsequent curriculum standards.However,at present,there are relatively few studies on the current situation of Chinese culture teaching in high school TEFL classrooms,so this study has important theoretical significance and practical value.The research adopted literature research method,questionnaire survey method and interview method.From the perspective of teachers,the following four dimensions are used to investigate the current situation of Chinese culture teaching in high school TEFL classrooms:(1)Teachers' attitude towards Chinese culture teaching in TEFL classroom;(2)Teachers 'mastery and understanding of Chinese cultural content and requirements in the course standards;(3)The situation of Chinese culture teaching in TEFL classroom;(4)Factors affecting teachers' Chinese culture teaching.Based on the analysis of the survey results,this study draws the following conclusions: 1.Teachers generally have a positive understanding towards teaching Chinese culture.2.Teachers 'mastery and understanding of Chinese cultural content and requirements in the course standards are not optimistic.3.The specific implementation of Chinese culture teaching:(1)When designing teaching goals,teachers emphasize cultural self-confidence and ignore the understanding and expression of Chinese culture;(2)Teachers teach little Chinese cultural content,among which value systems and behavioral culture are emphasized;(3)The adopted Chinese culture teaching methods lack diversity,and the mainly used method is direct teaching based on textbooks;(4)Teachers consider the appropriateness and practicability when teaching Chinese culture,but ignore the students' cognitive level to some extent.4.Resources,class hours,evaluation and teachers' personal quality influence teachers to carry out Chinese culture teaching.According to the research conclusion,the author puts forward suggestions for English teaching from three aspects: teacher teaching,student learning and examination evaluation.Finally,the author discusses the shortcomings of this study and gives a prospect for future research.
