In the novel Remains of the Day,the author mainly narrated from the perspective of the first person, recording what the hero Stevens saw, heard and thought during his six-day trip and described the story of the protagonist continually seeking and retrieving himself on the way of traveling. The protagonist Stevens is a housekeeper who has served in Darlington for 35 years. After World War II,Stevens left his job.He traveled to the west of England to visit his former colleague,Miss Kenton, and during this journey,he recorded the stories he had experienced and his feelings.Kazuo Ishiguro grew up in Europe and the United States with great ideological emancipation,an era in which uncountable schools of thought contended for various literary and artistic theories such as psychoanalysis,post-colonialism,post-modernism,classical narrative theory.Ishiguro's creation has been unconsciously influenced by these advanced literary trends. This paper mainly discusses how Ishiguro describes and presents the role of Stevens through vivid techniques and narrative strategies, based on the previous classical narrative theory of Genette and the post-classical narrative theory. The research of this subject is mainly divided into five parts:In the introduction part, the author of The Remains of the Day Ichiro Ishiguro's life story and the research status of his works at home and abroad were briefly stated. In the first chapter, the narrative time of The Remains of the Day was analyzed. From the perspectives of speed and time sequence, this paper probed into the time form of this novel. In chapter two,the unreliable narrative of the text with James Ferran's post-classical narrative theory was analyzed. Two concepts: close unreliable narrative and alienated unreliable narrative have been mainly introduced.Chapter three,in connection with these narrative characteristics analyzed in the full text, the relationship between them and Ishiguro's pursuit of global writing was discussed. Then, combining with Ishiguro's unique background, the differences between Ishiguro and the other two "Migrant Writers with name of Ro” were narrated, and the Ishiguro's unique school of aesthetics was analyzed.
