The painting of filial piety is a common artistic theme in tomb murals.The significant feature of filial piety murals in Song Dynasty is secularization and popularization,which can be easily observed in the process of dissemination,theme schema,internal structure and so on.First,from the nobility to folks,the popularization of the graphs of filial piety focuses on two aspects.First,for form of tombs,the imperial mausoleum is distinct from brick tombs and mural tombs.However,the theme of filial piety is basically consistent with the general Mural Tombs in the aspects of space stratification,allocation and combination of tombs,as well as the needs of ascending immortals.Also,there are many similarities between the image of filial piety and other folk engraving prints,which reflects the visual experience of popularity.Secondly,from the way of filial piety theme display,it has regional characteristics in location distribution,combination with other themes and media carrier.In the way of displaying filial piety,the similarity of adjacent tombs in the central area is higher,and there is a certain degree of influence on the surrounding areas.The filial piety images in the non-central area are represented by brick carvings,which are placed at a certain distance from the main wall.The differences between regions reflect the communication characteristics of popularity of filial piety images: the image forms are basically consistent,but the differences in spatial distribution,theme combination and communication media mean the change of the theme function of filial piety painting.Finally,with the emphasis on the combination of the internal image,follow the cue of the schema structure,we can grasp the civilian characteristics of the filial piety theme at two levels: the first level mainly analyses the combination relationship of the internal filial piety schema,and inspects the combination degree of the filial piety subject and the related symbols in each schema.It can be found that craftsmen mainly refer to the decorative elements of the building wall,and repeatedly use other similar elements for embellishment,which reflects certain ingenuity and limitations.The second level focuses on the form of expression of heaven-man induction in the figure of filial pietys schema,which can be divided into three categories: decorative elements related to ascension of immortality,the manifestation of specific needs in figure of filial pietys ’s event,and the religious identity and gestures of the characters in the schema.The participation of the filial piety theme in the religious ritual queue shows that the theme is consistent with the religious thought of the tomb and affirms the image function of the filial piety.At the same time,the relationship between the form of heaven-man induction and the location of the tomb,as well as the interaction with other image themes,also has unique characteristics of the times.
