| All languages comprise three elements: phonics,vocabulary and grammar.Vocabulary,among them is the most important one,as it bears the vital role of expression.Another reason is that vocabulary is also an important part of establishing a language system.Vocabulary functions like the bricks in building a house and the house certainly cannot be built without bricks.Vocabulary-memorizing now has been a sharp serious problem to solve in language teaching,which originates from the fact that teachers tend to teach their students traditional words-memorizing methods,International Phonics included,instead of offering them some useful methods in practice.Based on the importance of vocabulary learning for English learners and the research situation about phonics applied in vocabulary learning in junior middle school at present,this paper conducts an experiment on phonics based on the concept and principle of phonics and phonological awareness as well as vocabulary consciousness.The purpose of this research is to study by discussing the concept of the phonics,the basic principles,teaching process and the specific application of teaching students English vocabulary learning,and the effect of the phonics on students’ vocabulary learning efficiency in two different classes of Grade Seven in Qidian Middle School,Chenggong County,Kunming.The paper mainly uses the empirical research method,the questionnaire method,the experimental method and the comparative test method,and test whether this method can help students involved improve their English word spelling and stimulate their interest in learning English vocabulary.During the experiment implementation stage,the teacher uses the phonics to teach words in the experimental class,while using International Phonetic Alphabet(IPA)method in the other class.The phonics teaching has been carried out in three stages: The first stage is introducing the pronunciation rules of letters and letter combination.The second stage focuses on teaching students how to pronounce.The third stage focuses on teaching students how to spell words.The paper draws the conclusion of the experiment by analyzing the data of the research and giving suggestions for future research.When it comes to the findings of the research,the phonics can stimulate students’ interest in learning English,which cultivate their interest more actively than before.If the phonics instruction can be given with different forms,phonics instruction will improve students’ pronunciation ability.Students can teach themselves and they are willing to spell unknown words by themselves without a sense of fear.They dare to show themselves by spelling words and get more confidence of these junior high school students.Phonics training can improve the spelling ability to some extent that makes spell more accurately. |
