Research On Font Design Method Of Wei Inscriptions Based On "An Inscription For Wei Lingcang's Making The Buddha Statue"

Writing is great progress made by mankind in visualizing languages,and in the development of different historical environments,writing has also changed a lot in form.The development of Chinese characters carries the history and culture of the Chinese nation,as a link of which tablet inscriptions of the Northern Dynasties were of great significance to inheriting and carrying forward Chinese characters.This project analyzed reasons for the formation of the font in tablet inscriptions of the Northern Dynasties based on an in-depth understanding of its development environment,and studied the characteristics of its strokes and forms from the perspective of visual communication design.On this basis,a font was designed to add a new possibility to font design.With “An Inscription for Wei Lingcang's Making the Buddha Statue ”among tablet inscriptions of the Northern Dynasties as a research object,this project collected massive historical data of the Northern Wei Dynasty,as well as relevant literature and books on the history of Chinese characters and calligraphy,to sort out and analyze the factors and conditions behind the formation of “An Inscription for Wei Lingcang's Making the Buddha Statue”.Then,characters in it were further studied to analyze the artistic features and attributive characteristics of the font.Through a systematic study of “An Inscription for Wei Lingcang's Making the Buddha Statue”,characteristics of strokes and font structures were sorted out,analyzed and summarized,and its font was standardized and digitalized with methods of font design,to inherit font design in a new way from the perspective of calligraphy and bring more ideas to the development of Chinese fonts.In the rapid development of informatization today,font design of Chinese characters can still find much space of development from ancient calligraphy works and make Chinese characters more diversified.
