Scientific instructional design can effectively improve teaching quality.Reading is an important part of primary school English teaching.Strengthening the reform of primary school English Reading is the need to implement the curriculum reform philosophy and develop students' reading ability.Drama in education(DIE)first appeared in the western developed countries.It is a method of using the elements of drama to teach subjects.It has a unique role in developing and cultivating students' ability.DIE can mobilize students' speech language and body language,effectively stimulate students' interest and improve reading ability.However,there are still insufficient researches on DIE in China.Most of the researches focus on concepts,applied values,and existing problems.There are not many studies on the specific application of DIE in primary school English Reading.The genres of primary school English Reading texts are diverse,and they can fully reflect the various application forms of DIE.Therefore,the use of DIE in primary school English Reading instructional design has certain value,and it is also a new exploration of primary school English Reading reform.Research combines literature method,case analysis method,observation method and interview method to conduct empirical research.Use case analysis to understand how teachers carry out instructional design,including instructional objectives and instructional content design.Observe the actual situation of the implementation of teachers' teaching cases by observing teachers' behaviors and students' behaviors.Based on the results of case analysis and observations,an interview outline was prepared.Use the interview method to understand the ideas behind teachers 'use of drama teaching methods to design reading teaching behaviors and teachers' understanding of deficiencies in classroom teaching.Master the design of primary school English reading instruction using DIE.Through the above research,it was found that when teachers use DIEto design reading instruction,there are problems such as unclear presentation of teaching goals,narrow selection of reading materials,and fixed design of activity forms.Teachersshould uphold the three design principles of reasonable use of body language,the combination of speech language and body language,and flexible design.According to the instructional design operation steps,analyze the characteristics of students,prepare reading materials,set reading teaching goals,choose the form of drama teaching method,and determine Teaching media and technology,planning the basic procedures of reading teaching,designing teaching evaluation,and design reflection in order.Then based on the results of the research,the author conducted a practical exploration of instructional design with an English reading class: "Tommy's birthday present".
