English writing has been the key and difficult part of English learning for a long time.Among the language skills of speaking, reading, listening, writing and viewing, writing is the best way to test students' ability in the use of knowledge comprehensively.Scholars and experts have always attached great importance to the way of reviewing and correcting writing. However, the traditional process of composition writing,i.e.from the model writing to the student's first draft to the teacher's correction to the classroom evaluation, still plays a dominant role in teaching English writing. This traditional way of correcting students' writing is said to only get half of the work done by times of workloads. In this case,Professor Wen Qiufang and her team put forward “Teacher-Student Collaborative Assessment(TSCA)” to improve the traditional way of marking.TSCA aims to find an effective evaluation strategy by choosing appropriate methods to improve the assessing process and promote teachers' evaluation of students' English writing from different perspectives.TSCA can reduce teachers' workload by organizing and balancing teachers' assessment with other evaluation methods. It can also fully mobilize students' enthusiasm and inspire them to play their main role in learning,so as to make the whole evaluation perfect and the evaluation results would be more reasonable and accurate.Accordingly, the purpose of this study is to explore the effects of TSCA on junior middle school students' English writing skills and try to answer three questions: 1.What are students' attitudes towards teachers' assessment in English writing? 2.What are students' attitudes towards TSCA? 3.Can TSCA improve students' writing skills? This study takes the students in the same class of grade seven in a school of Hefei as the research participants.Altogether, three rounds of tests(Pretest and Test Two,Test Two and Test Three,Test Three and Post-test)are designed.Meanwhile, questionnaires and interviews are conducted to collect data. With analyzing the data from this study, the research result shows that:(1)Most of the students reflect negative to teachers' giving scores directly.(2)Most of the students are willing to use TSCA to evaluate their compositions.(3)TSCA can effectively improve students' writing skills. All in all,TSCA provides a new selection for junior middle school students to improve writing.
