| The dragon boat race in Mudong town,which shows the characteristics of regional culture,is one of the most important parts of the traditional custom activities on the upper reaches of the Yangtze River.In the process of modernization,people has struggled to inherit and protect the custom of the Mudong dragon boat race,due to the alienation of its living space.By using the methods of literature research,field investigation and historical-comparative study,and learning from the theory of cultural change and social space,this paper discusses the causes,development and changing living space of the dragon boat race in Mudong town.Besides,the thesis analyzes the survival problems of the dragon boat race in Mudong town caused by the change of living space,and tries to find a reasonable way for it to exist and develop,providing a case of referential value for other traditional activities during their existence.This paper is divided into the following six parts: The first part describes the background of the topic,research significance,research status,theoretical basis,ect.The second part introduces the influencing factors and the development of the dragon boat race in Mudong town.As the core of the paper,the third part elaborates on those changes of the living space that the dragon boat race activity relies on.That is to say,due to the fast acceleration of urbanization and the change of residents’ traditional beliefs,the geographic space and living cultural space shrank,leading to the changes of organizational form and the participants of the dragon boat race in Mudong town.More problems are further discussed in the fourth part.Such as,most inheritors are aging people,and owing to the change of the living space,the inherited method of the Mudong dragon boat race was mainly guided by the Chinese government instead of people’s spontaneity.Based on the above difficulties faced by the dragon boat race,theproper way for the boat race to get inherited and developed from the perspectives of both overall space and the dragon boat was shown in the fifth part.Inferring from the study on the Mudong dragon boat race,the sixth part suggests that there might be some Mudong-typed traditional activities suffering the same struggles,and they need inheritance and protection from the perspectives of both overall space and the activities. |
