Modern society is constantly developing and changing, and people can more and more enjoy the convenient and fast life brought by modern society. However, many problems have been exposed in the modern society, and the specific level of social morality is to show the disordered state of modern morality. As one of the most famous contemporary moral philosophers,MacIntyre has always tried to solve the problems caused by modernity. He criticized Western modern morality, and pointed out that only by returning to the pre-modern era, using Aristotelian virtue thought as a recipe, and applying narrative methods to practice can we solve the ills caused by modern morality. This article attempts to use MacIntyre's recent work "Ethics in the Conflict of Modernity" as a clue to discuss MacIntyre's criticism of modern morality and explore how MacIntyre has solved this problem. The full text is arranged as follows:The main body of this article is divided into three parts. The first chapter discusses the performance and causes of modern moral dilemma.First,it summarizes MacIntyre's definition of modern morality and understands the difference between modern morality and other morals. The manifestation of modern moral issues is the first lack of moral authority and various ideas. The second is that modern society leads to the continuous growth of human desires, and people lack the methods to correctly understand and control desires. Finally,it discusses that the root cause of the modern moral crisis situation is the unique form of modern society, that is,the modern state and modern market models have caused modern moral dilemmas. The second chapter mainly discusses the two major conflict theories.First,it compares MacIntyre's two major opposing moral theories in modern society, which is to compare expressionism with the NeoAristotelian to which MacIntyre belongs. The discovery of the limitations of expressionism, while criticizing the lack of modern happiness, shows that only The NeoAristotelian can solve today's problems. After that,I sorted out the sources of MacIntyre's The NeoAristotelian thoughts, and understood the origins of their thoughts from the Homer era to the pre-modern times of the Middle Ages.Analyze the main components of MacIntyre's The NeoAristotelian theory, that is,the connection between virtue and practice, human unity, and tradition. Finally, the problems faced by The NeoAristotelian are pointed out,and the solution is the narrative. The third chapter discusses the specific method proposed by MacIntyre to solve modern problems, that is,narrative.First,it explains the definition of narrative. Then, through combing MacIntyre's past thoughts,it summarizes how MacIntyre's narrative theory is formed step by step. Finally Explain the practical significance of narrative theory and how to play a role in practice.
