Charles Taylor is involved in almost every discussion of political philosophy today, and he himself is the subject of intense discussion. In the debate, how to understand human is the key,and Taylor's answer is "human are language animals".Taylor's interest in human language has been a constant throughout his writing career. This article attempts to give a complete description of Taylor's thoughts on language on the basis of his discussion on language in the early days of his academic career. From Taylor's criticism of naturalistic view of human language to the background of the 20 th century, and tries to indicate the specific point to Taylor's language thought is the erosion of naturalism in the field of human social science view,Taylor argues that this abstract human understanding leads to many problems, the language of the Taylor thought is try to restore the comprehensive understanding of human.Taylor is under the influence of the Herder's language thought. In discussing Herder's critique of Condillac's theory of the origin of language,Taylor developed his own HHH theory.Taylor believe Herder opened the way to a proper understanding of human language ability, along this path,Taylor gives the constructive three functions of languages in the family of HHH theory: formulate, dialogue and medium.Taylor thought that language constitutes human and emphasizes the interpretive dimension of human.Taylor explores the proposition that "human is a self-interpreting animal" from five interrelated claims,It enriches the interpretation space of "self" and " significant others ",human can only exist in the linguistic community constructed by the self and the significant others, and combined with Taylor called “the malaise of modernity”,and points out the language thought in the communitarianism rescue plan that Taylor seeks.
