| With the development of the times,scientific knowledge and technology have made considerable achievements,scientific and rational concepts are gradually accepted by most people.However,under such a background,the fortune telling behavior in rural areas is still widespread.Therefore,this study selects the S village in Jiangsu as the research site,and villagers in S village are taken as the research object.The reasons for the widespread occurrence of fortune-telling in rural areas are studied through interviews and field observation.As Malinowski emphasized,to study a certain culture,we must put the culture into its environment background.This study is carried out from the rural cultural environment generated by fortune-telling behavior.Firstly,after years of development and changes,fortune telling culture has undergone some changes.The content of fortune-telling culture is more streamlined and the means are more diversified,which undoubtedly can better meet the needs of the market and villagers.At the same time,the exchange of fortune-telling experiences between villagers not only accumulated word-of-mouth for competent fortune-tellers,but also promoted the generation of fortune-telling behavior of other villagers.Secondly,the cultural environment of the countryside has a subtle influence on the generation of fortune telling.Compared with the city,the rural environment is relatively closed,and many traditional cultures and rituals have been well preserved.In the village of S,the traditional ceremony of ancestor worship and peace will promote villagers to form a set of concepts of soul and spirit,so their acceptance for fortune is higher.Finally,fortune telling has certain positive functions.Fortune telling behavior can promote the transformation of villagers' personal mentality so that they can deal with difficulties with optimism and self-confidence.The fortune-telling process often contains some ethical and moral rules,which is a guide and norm for society.As a folk phenomenon,fortune-telling has its own research value,and is a supplement to the study of folk culture.Through the analysis of the changes of fortune-telling culture,the cultural environment in rural areas and the functions of fortune-telling behavior,this study concludes that the common existence of fortune-telling behavior in rural areas is caused by a variety of factors.With these factors in mind,we can know more objectively and accurately about the fortune telling behavior in rural areas. |
