A Preliminary Study On The Use Of Bricks In The Base Remains Of The Ancient Jinyang City In The Late Tang And Five Dynasties

Jinyang ancient city is the old city of Taiyuan.It was built in the 23 rd year of King Jing in the spring and Autumn period(497 BC),and burned in the 4th year of Taiping Xingguo in the Northern Song Dynasty(979 BC).In history,the military and political status of Jinyang city is special.It was once known as the capital of the early Zhao state,the capital of Han and Jin Dynasties,the bafu of the Eastern Wei Dynasty,the capital of the Northern Qi Dynasty and Beijing in the prosperous Tang Dynasty.Since 2011,a series of discussions,trial excavation,excavation and other works have been carried out on the site of the ancient city of Jinyang.Many precious materials have been published and unearthed,including the largest building scale in the late Tang and Five Dynasties,and some of the ground structures of the building are relatively complete.In this paper,the most common building materials brick as the focus of the late Tang and Five Dynasties Jinyang Ancient City No.2 building site brick situation.The foundation site of Building No.2 excavated a relatively complete palace area,including the palace,courtyard,corridor and verandah,as well as the front and side doors and other sites.Each building is closely connected,with regular construction,but only the ground part remains,so a large number of bricks are retained.In this site group,we can see the different ways of laying bricks on the ground of different buildings,and we can also see the use of different kinds of bricks in the same building.As the most important part of a building,brick has strict standards in usage,specification and laying method.Therefore,this paper mainly observes and summarizes the specifications,usage and laying of the bricks used in the building complex.First of all,it is necessary to make typological analysis on the bricks unearthed in the site,and make clear what types of bricks are used in the site.Then,it is compared with the regulations on the bricks used in the building method of Song Dynasty and the bricks used in the tomb of Tang brick room in Shanxi Province We can get the difference and connection between the bricks used in the late Tang and Five Dynasties and the bricks used in the Song Dynasty.We can know the difference between the above ground buildings and the underground buildings in the late Tang and Five Dynasties.
