As one of the four basic skills of language communication,writing can effectively promote the internalization of language knowledge,cultivate students' ability to use the language,and clearly reflect the students' comprehensive language level.In recent years,due to the provision of new writing objectives in the newly issued Senior High School English Curriculum Criterion,and the changes of new marking criteria of NMET(National Matriculation Entrance Test),more and more students and teachers have realized the importance of cultivating writing ability.However,despite the considerable effort invested by both teachers and students,writing remains relatively weak in English writing teaching.The main reason for this phenomenon is that our English writing teaching still follows product writing approach.Followed by this mode,the teachers will provide an essay on a certain topic,and then ask the students to imitate their writing and correct the final writing product without paying attention to students' learning process.Therefore,based on the theories of cognitivism,constructivism,communicative competence and cooperative learning,this thesis attempts to apply process writing approach to English writing teaching writing at senior high school to verify its feasibility and effectiveness.Let students change from passive learning to active learning in the whole writing process,to strengthen students' writing motivation and interest.Three experimental instruments are used in this study.First of all,this study is based on the actual situation of English writing teaching at senior high school and carries out a questionnaire survey on the difficulties and problems encountered by senior high school students in the process of English writing.The results show that it is necessary to change the traditional teaching method of English writing,and it is feasible to apply process writing approach to English writing teaching at senior high school.Secondly,two classes of students from a senior high school in Anshan city are selected for the experiment.After analyzing the changes in the scores of English composition tests by SPSS software,it is concluded that process writing approach is more conducive to cultivating students' English writing ability,enhancing students' learning confidence,and improving students' comprehensive English level.At the same time,through the way of random interview,it is important to understand that process writing approach has a positive effect on changing students' English writing attitude,reducing the difficulty of writing and improving their writing scores.In a word,process writing approach is a very effective teaching approach to English writing teaching at senior high school,but it is still need to constantly explore in teaching practice,so as to make it more systematic and scientific.
