Lu Xun is the most influential writer and thinker in the first half of the 20 th century in China, the most profound critical realist writer at that time, and also the pioneer and spiritual model of the May 4th Movement and the literary revolution. His literary creation and literary theory are of great significance to the transformation and liberation of modern Chinese people's thoughts.Lu Xun's literary creation mainly serves for the reality and criticizes the disadvantages of the times. He never said that what he created was tragic literature, which is exactly the case, but it can't be said that there is no tragic factor in his works. The act of fighting against desperation itself promotes a tragic spirit,so are the characters created in Lu Xun's novels and Lu Xun himself. In "On the Fall of Leifeng Tower",Lu Xun proposed that "Tragedy destroys the valuable things of life to others." he reason why Chinese people can't appreciate tragedy is that they don't want to face up to the destruction of value, but whether people look at it or not,the destruction of value is still going on.All Lu Xun has done is to put this destruction process more bloody in front of those who are deaf and dumb, and it is undoubtedly difficult to wake them up.This is also the work of Lu Xun Tragic. This paper consists of six parts. The introduction explains the reason why Lu Xun chose the tragedy of Lu Xun's novels as the topic of this paper, points out Lu Xun's position and influence in the history of Chinese literature and thought, combs the main situation and relevant content of the academic research on Lu Xun's literature, and finally states the significance, methods and innovations of this paper. The main part of the thesis has four chapters:The first chapter is to explore the tragic characteristics of Lu Xun's novels in different periods based on his life and social environment. The New Culture Movement and the May4 th Period were mainly active "shouting" periods;when the May 4th Movement turned into a low tide and the National Revolution failed,it was mainly a period of “Despairation” and“Resistance against despairation”;The series of novels creating "New Stories" are adaptations of ancient Chinese legends, coexistence of humor and sadness, solemnity and absurdity, are highly artistic, and reflect a character of alienation and rebellion. The second chapter mainly discusses Lu Xun's definition and understanding of tragedy by combining his novels.A little combing the history of western tragedy theory leads to Lu Xun's view of tragedy.Tragedy is to show the destroyed valuable things in front of the audience.Lu Xun's tragic novels shape realistic characters, which is totally different from the reunion art China before, and the depiction environment is also real, which can be divided into multiple living worlds according to different characters. In the novel,Lu Xun describes the destruction of the material life and spiritual dignity of tragic characters.Facing the desperate world,Lu Xun and the characters in his works are fighting up.These discussions need to combine the understanding of Lu Xun's specific novels, discuss the tragic characters and their characteristics, the description of the environment and the plot arrangements, and so on.The third chapter is to explore the causes of the tragic thought formation of Lu Xun's novels. The traditional Chinese culture had a subtle effect on Lu Xun during his growth. The influence of Buddhism,Zhuang Zi and ancient myths and legends all caused Lu Xun's tragic thoughts. In the modern Chinese era,the wave of the literary revolution and the May 4th Movement also promoted the formation of Lu Xun's artistic style. While studying in Nanjing and studying in Japan,Lu Xun was baptized by western thoughts.Among them, the rebellious spirit of Moro poets, the rational thought of evolutionism, the theory of Nietzsche's will with irrational color and the thought of tragic Dionysus all had a great influence on him, which affected the perspective and direction of Lu Xun's future novel creation. The fourth chapter discusses the tragic aesthetic value of Lu Xun's novels. It mainly discusses the value and significance of Lu Xun's tragedy concept and the creation of tragedy novels, describes the acute real social situation, portrays the slave's national soul, has the practical significance of showing and reshaping the real world, and the spiritual value of self, with a strong color of criticism. In addition,Lu Xun is based on the land of realism, but his novel creation has the style of pre-modern,modern and post-modern at the same time, connecting with different times, which is complex and grand. The last part is the conclusion. To sum up,Lu Xun put forward his own tragic judgment from the perspective of literary creation and criticism in combination with his real experience. His novels also have a strong tragic color, and have different performances in differentperiods,or each novel is a great attempt, showing the real social tragedy from different sides, and taking the attitude of a pioneer shouting loudly,or bowing his head and hesitating,or making a lot of banter,in order to woke up the sleeping people. The tragedy of Lu Xun's novels is reflected in the exposure and criticism of reality, but in the seemingly dark tragedy,it has a bright color and gives people hope.In terms of literature and art, western tragedies have a very perfect theoretical system of tragedies through the development of thousands of years, but Chinese lacks the understanding and appreciation of tragedies. The introduction of modern western thoughts influenced Lu Xun and other intellectuals' consideration of tragic themes, and played an important role in promoting the development of Chinese modern tragic thoughts, while his tragic literary creation and tragic ideas had a profound impact on the later literary development, enabling people to face up to the destruction of value and feel the beauty of life that erupted when the value was destroyed.
