This paper, by dissecting the destruction in her works, makes an exploration of the tragical and aesthetic characteristics of destruction, which is a clue to analyze Marguerite Duras, the French contemporary woman writer. The paper makes the demonstration through four parts. Chapter 1: The universality of destruction. This part analyses and classifies the phenomenon of destruction. Chapter 2: The evidence of destruction. This part discusses the existence of the subject of destruction. Chapter 3: Destruction : the tragedy of human being's existence. This part explores the tragical and aesthetic characteristics of human being's existence in destruction through the significance of aesthetics, by which it deepens the Marguerite Duras's destruction theme. Chapter 4: Destruction : a world-wide proposition. This is angled at the point of literature history and the writer's distinctive feature.
