As a unique ethnic group in Yunnan Province,Lahu people mainly live on the banks of the middle and lower reaches of Lancang River in the subtropical mountainous area of southwestern Yunnan.Lancang County is the only Lahu Autonomous County in China, and it is the region where Lahu nationality have the most concentrated population and keep the most intact traditional culture as well.Almost all the Lahu intangible cultural heritage to be protected at different levels are assembled here.Laodabao Village,Jiujing Township, located in the southeast of Lancang County,is known as “hometown of primitive folk songs and dances and a place where people sing Lahu songs happily”.Furthermore,it is the place where the inheritance and protection of national and provincial intangible cultural heritage projects such as “Mupamipa”,“Lusheng Dance” and “Swing Dancing” have been carried out actively. It is also a stockaded village with a relatively high concentration of inheritors of intangible cultural heritage of various types. In recent years, the inheritors in Laodabao Village, the main body of intangible cultural heritage inheritance, oriented by the government and propelled by various social factors, have traveled through different movement areas and constantly practiced the function and significance of intangible cultural heritage through specific behaviors. This paper aims to deeply describe the inheritance pattern and living space of the traditional folk songs and dances by Lahu people in Laodabao Village from the perspective of the dynamic changes of the two dimension time and space under the background of musical anthropology, and to explore the inheritance and changes of the traditional Lahu cultural and musical phenomenon in the historical process as well as the social environment permeated by modernization through in-depth interviews and field visits to the current influential family inheritors in the village. The paper consists of three parts: introduction, main body and conclusion. The introduction mainly includes the reason and significance of the selected topic, the purpose and content of the research, and the theories and methods of the research. In this part, the research status and research literature related to the main body are sorted out,and the situation of the investigated fields is summarized to provide a chasable academic base for the research on the multiple and complex relationships between inheritors and music as well as the environmental relationship between inheritors and music creation in the part of main body which is composed of the following four parts:Part One Ecological environment and ethnic memory of Lahu village in Laodabao. This chapter describes and records the anthropological significance of the physical and humanistic environment, history of the nationality, family memories and so on in the village through reviewing and collating relevant information about the humanity history of the Lahu people combined with detailed investigations in the fields of the village,as well as in-depth interviews with the old villagers.Part Two Multiple dimensions of music inheritors in traditional space and time.Any music is produced and disseminated through individual music experience and group music cognition in a certain time and space.Whereas, the perception and choice of the inheritors for their national music originates from the belief in and safeguard of the foundation of their traditional culture. Therefore, this chapter expounds the generation context of music in the traditional period and the traditional inheritance field of Li Shikai's musical family.Part Three Multiple dimensions of music inheritors in modern time and space. With the development of modernization, traditional music culture has undergone some changes in the development of modern time and space, and the change of inheritors' movement areas is an effective way for traditional music culture to seek survival in the context of modern culture as well. This chapter will describe the aggregation context of modern music and the modern inheritance field of Li Shikai's musical family.Part Four Subjective selection and contemporary practice of musical family inheritance.Social background, belief system and personal emotions are a series of choices in the main practices that safeguard and lead Li Shikai's musical family inheritance. For this reason, this chapter analyzes the relation among inheritors, social groups and the change of times from three aspects of diachronic and synchronic cultural change, cultural identity in subjective selection and individual creation in acculturation.Singing and “physical practice” are the explicit expression and ethnic mentality of the Lahu people's inner world view and world outlook. The acquisition and inheritance fields of music are different in different social periods. However, the cultural form of Lahu music is not only closely related to products of the specific historical period, but also compatible with the musical concept of the inheritors, thus becoming a significant symbol of the traditional culture of Lahu nationality.
