As a basic cross-cultural communication activity, legal translation is of great importance. However, legal translation is a great challenge for many translators.Due to the rigorousness and authority of legal translation, the mistranslations and omissions often cause unnecessary losses,so translators should have a good command of professional knowledge and the languages. They should know how to choose proper translation strategies and methods to deliver target texts of high quality. The present report is an E-C translation report of “An Acquisition Agreement”(excerpt). The source text can be categorized as a legal text with the total number of words of 11,687.The translation project was commissioned during the internship of the author in April 2019,and was finished in May 2019.The source text is featured by a great number of terminology and many long and complex sentences, which pose major difficulties in translation. The translation report is based on the translation project. The report first introduces the background of this project and describes the task. Then,it describes the three stages of the translation process, namely before translation, while translation and after translation. In the next part, from the perspective of intertextuality by Hatim and Mason,it analyzes the major translation difficulties in manifest intertextuality and constitutive intertextuality. The translation difficulties in manifest intertextuality include the translation of reference, archaic words, terminology and some common specific words. The translation difficulties in constitutive intertextuality include the translation of the functional intertextuality, the structural intertextuality, and the genre intertextuality.Based on the analysis of the features of the source text and the difficulties, the report explores the application of the machine-aided translation software to solve the problems at lexical level and makes full of the parallel texts to solve some problems at syntactical level.Besides, the report also reflects upon the translation experience in the project and makes the suggestions for the future translation of the texts with similar features, including increasing the proficiency in translation assistance software and the expansion of legal knowledge. It is hoped that the report can be of some help to those who is or will be engaged in legal text translation.
