This thesis takes the inscription of the Ming and Qing Dynasties in 210 Tong Baiyin area as the research object.which are mainly distributed in Jingyuan County town and Huining County town,78 inscriptions in Ming Dynasty and 132 inscriptions in Qing Dynasty.According to the content of the inscription,the inscription is divided into the following five categories: epitaph monument,academy social study monument,temple Taoist monument,memorial monument,city construction monument.Combined with the local records of Baiyin area,Ming and Qing historical materials and other literature materials,the method of mutual proof of literature and history is mainly studied from three aspects: education,religion and military defense in Baiyin area of Ming and Qing dynasties.The educational characteristics of Baiyin Ming and Qing dynasties were mainly to change the customs and educate the people;the educational funds were mainly derived from the income obtained from the study fields,the donation of the officials and gentry and the management of the teaching institutions themselves.The religious functions reflected in the religious inscriptions of Baiyin Ming and Qing dynasties mainly include holding a Taoist center,entering incense,praying for rain and snow,praying for the gods to keep peace and stabilize the people's hearts,and stabilizing social order.The military defense of Baiyin Ming and Qing dynasties depended on the special geographical location of Baiyin,and the importance of military defense was reflected in the construction of Huining County town and Jingyuan County town,as well as the construction of military defense castles such as Huai Rong Fort,Dala Chibao,dry salt pool Fort,Yongan Fort,Lugou Fort,Shuiquan Fort and so on.
