| With the acceleration of the social aging process, the situation of my country’s old-age care problem has become increasingly severe. The comparison and selection of different pension methods have become social issues that the government and the general public are eagerly concerned about. At present, the two main types of old-age care in our country are home-based care and institutional care. There are great differences in the lifestyles of the elderly under the two pension methods.At-home elders live with their children or other family members for a long time, while institutional elders live in institutions such as nursing homes and nursing homes for a long time. With the increase of age,the elderly have a stronger sense of demand for their children due to the decline of physical functions and the weakening of social functions.Previous studies have shown that there are significant differences in the physical distance, closeness, and relationship between the elderly and their children under different pension methods.Home-based caregivers have closer contact with their children, higher intimacy, and better relationship.Do these differences cause differences in the self-concepts of the elderly under the two old-age care methods, that is,the concept of children of home-based caregivers contains child components, while the self-concept of institutional caregivers does not contain child components? This article examines the reference effect of older children under different pension methods to verify the assumption that home-based caregivers include children in self-concepts,while institutional caregivers do not include children in self-concepts.To test the experimental hypothesis,in Experiment 1,we used elderly individuals as the subjects to explore whether the elderly have a child reference effect. As a result,it was found that the elderly had a child-reference effect.Experiment 2 introduces the variables of different pension methods on the basis of experiment 1,and uses the classic self-reference paradigm to re-examine the child reference effect of the elderly. It is found that there is a child reference effect for home caregivers, but no child reference effect for institutional caregivers..Experiment 3 adopts the paradigm of item ownership to simulate the daily lifeshopping scene, and verifies the results of Experiment 2 from a deeper level. The results are consistent with Experiment 2.This study mainly obtained the following conclusions:(1)The elderly have a child reference effect;(2)Under the typical self-reference effect paradigm and item ownership paradigm, the child reference effect of home-based caregivers is better than institutional caregivers. |
