The purpose of this thesis is to analyze the problems of note-taking in English to Chinese consecutive interpreting.Coping strategies are provided as well.By adopting them,interpreters could be able to mitigate note-taking errors and improve their performance in consecutive interpreting.This thesis is based on a case analysis of a mock conference of refugees amid the crisis of Covid-19 in 2020.The author compares the notes taken down with the transcript of recorded speech and interpreting and discovered three primary problems in note-taking,including missing key information,low readability and disordered structure of notes.Corresponding strategies are also provided,including allocating efforts properly,establishing sophisticated note-taking system and being well-prepared for interpreting.The author hope that these coping strategies can be of help to trainee interpreters who face similar issues. |
