A Study On The Typicality And Complementarity Of The Mood Adverbs “Bumian ” “ Nanmian” And “ Weimian” In Modern Chinese

Based on CCL corpus,this paper makes a quantitative and qualitative analysis of modern Chinese modal adverbs“Bumian(??)”“Nanmian(??)”and“Weimian(??)”from three aspects of grammar,semantics and pragmatics.Grammatically,the three show regularity in the macro choice of sentence,the meso choice of predicate and the micro co-occurrence of adverbs.On the macro level,the commonness of the three words lies in that they only choose the verb predicate sentence and the adjective predicate sentence,and neither of them can appear in the imperative sentence.On the meso level,“Bumian(??)”mostly chooses psychological verbs,judgment verbs,commendatory and derogatory adjectives and human-descriptive adjectives.“Nanmian(??)”more chooses action verbs,conjugation verbs,willing verbs,pejorative adjectives and human-descriptive adjectives.“Weimian(??)”more chooses existence verbs,derogatory adjectives and object-descriptive adjectives.On the micro level,the three are more with time frequency adverbs,degree adverbs and negative adverbs,but there are differences in co-occurrence frequency.Semantically,the three words are all lexicalized from phrases by means of lexical solidification,and the association and difference in the origin of the three words are one of reasons for the semantic difference.According to the three-domain theory,the semantic distribution of“Bumian(??)”are in the action domain,knowledge domain and speech domain,the semantic distribution of“Nanmian(??)”are in the action domain and knowledge domain,and the semantic distribution of“Weimian(??)”are in the action domain and speech domain.The three are in the semantic environment with causal meaning,and their semantic environment types can be related to the three-domain distribution.Pragmatically,there are differences in the stylistic and spatial distribution of the three words,and the principle of empathy,politeness and economy are the reasons for them to realize their expressive function and stressed function.
