In the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China,as an important period of transformation in Chinese history,various fairs,large and small,gradually enabled the Chinese people to gradually understand and accept the "exhibition" in the modern sense as an information dissemination method,the spread of Western philosophy and aesthetic knowledge Entering promotes aesthetic education to be regarded as a practical means by which educators and artists are to save lives and improve the people.Along with the aftertaste of the promotion of pictures in the industry to save the country,a trend of fine art exhibitions has formed.On the one hand,out of direct reference to Western civilization,and on the other hand,the development needs of the art exhibition itself,the Suzhou Art Museum and the Tianjin Municipal Art Museum have emerged in response,becoming the earliest private and public art museums in China.This article believes that the formation of modern Chinese art museums is about the development process of "exposition-art exhibition-art museum".In the development process of "Expo-Art Exhibition-Art Museum","Exhibition",an information dissemination method integrating market activities,aesthetic education activities,and public welfare activities throughout,has gradually integrated "exhibition" into daily life.The practical objects of the aesthetic education activities of the Republic of China,artists and educators who called for the popularization of aesthetic education are the main body of the aesthetic education activities of the Republic of China,and the administrative and educational systems established in the modern state system are the fundamental guarantee of the modernity of the aesthetic education of the Republic of China.Since the beginning of the twentieth century,along with various commodity competitions and the public appearance of the “Museum of Art” in the Nan Yang international fair,the first national exposition in the late Qing Dynasty,the “Exhibition” which a way of information dissemination known to the general public.Early games and expositions aimed at the development of industry and commerce have used this method to make formal preparations for the formation of modern art museums in China.Soon after the Nan Yang international fair was held,the 1911 Revolution broke out,ending the feudal rule of China for more than two thousand years and establishing the Republic of China.On the one hand,the government has set up offices dedicated to the collection of museums,libraries,zoos and botanical gardens and cultural relics,and incorporated the plans of museums and art galleries into the national administrative system;on the other hand,intellectuals led by Cai Yuanpei are also learning and disseminating Western aesthetics and aesthetic education In the process of thinking,art colleges were established,art club movements and art exhibition activities were actively promoted,the ideal of aesthetic education was put into reality,and conceptual preparations were made for the formation of modern Chinese art museums.During this period,active school performance exhibitions,art club exhibitions,painter individual exhibitions,etc.,emerged one after another,making content preparations for the formation of modern art museums in China.In the 1920 s and 1930 s of the 20 th century,it entered the "Golden Decade" of the Republic of China.The gradual stabilization of the political and economic situation promoted the development of the arts and cultural undertakings,coupled with the return of art talents studying in Japan,Europe and the United States,the National Art Exhibition were finally successfully held several times,and the art exhibition in the Republic of China began to flourish.The successive establishment of Suzhou Art Museum and Tianjin Municipal Art Museum marks the emergence of modern art museums in China.It is worth mentioning that at the beginning of the establishment of these two museums,academic research and public education as required by modern art museums have been regarded as their own responsibilities.At that time,they did indeed play a certain role in "opening up the people's wisdom" and "improving the people".Although the outbreak of the AntiJapanese War forced the art exhibition business to stop abruptly,the insights of the educators and artists of the Republic of China on aesthetic education still seem to be instructive today.
