The Reformation in the 16 th century was a key step towards the modern society and the construction of a nation-state in Scotland. As a result of the European Renaissance humanism and the Reformation during the period of Lutheranism and Calvinism, there are growing calls for reform in Scotland.Facing with the corruption of the Catholic Church and the moral decline of the clergy,Scottish Protestant theologians have launched a reform movement. The purpose was to establish a presbyterian church and separated the church and state. It is not difficult to see that the Scottish Reformation was essentially led by Protestant nobles and widely participated by Protestants.A systematic and comprehensive analyzed contexts, trend and characteristics of the Scottish Reformation,it will help us to understand deeply the interaction between Scotland and the central of civilization. It has both important academic value and practical reality.Because through this case,we can not only enrich our profound understanding of Scotland's modern transformation process and its position in the European Reformation Movement in the 16 th century, but also combine the reality to find the historical roots and modern echo of the Scottish independence movement. The full text is divided into three parts: introduction, main text and conclusion. The main text is divided into three chapters. The first chapter discusses the background of the Scottish Reformation, focusing on political ecology, religious conditions and ideological sources. The second chapter mainly divides the process of Scottish religious reform into three stages: beginning, tortuous development and basic completion, and tries to clarify the long-term and complex nature of Scottish Reformation. The third chapter evaluate the Scottish Reformation from three aspects: the characteristics of the Scottish Reformation, its impact on the country and on England.Recognizing that the Reformation in Scotland, although deepening the contradiction between the Highlands and the Lowlands, also provided an opportunity for national reconstruction. After the reconstruction,Scotland paid more attention to education and gradually became a European cultural town.It also improved the three-century confrontation between Britain and the Soviet Union and provided an opportunity for the realization of the alliance between Britain and the Soviet Union. The conclusion of this article is that Scotland's half-century Reformation, although not and cannot be separated from the context of the 16th-century European Renaissance and Reformation, were transferred on the basis of their historical traditions and realistic conditions. Therefore, its process, direction and end result clearly highlight the national characteristics. The most important thing is that after the Reformation,Scotland basically got rid of the control of France and England, two neighboring powers, and realized the aspirations of the nation state.
