Zhou Zhibiao was an active dramatist and engraver from the late Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty to the mid Shunzhi period of the Qing Dynasty.His traditional opera activities mainly include editing and printing Wu Yu Cui Ya and Yuefu Shanshan,criticizing the traditional opera through the selection of two pieces,and creating Wu Ji Bai Mei,recording the interaction between literati and prostitutes through the title and general comment.In this paper,the main object of this study are these three works.Combining with the study of Zhou Zhibiao’s identity,friends and publishing activities,through a comprehensive grasp of Zhou Zhibiao’s traditional opera activities,this paper summarizes Zhou Zhibiao’s critical views on traditional opera and makes an evaluation of his contribution to the study of traditional opera music.The first chapter studies the completion time of all Zhou Zhibiao’s works,and solves three controversial issues: first,whether the collection of Sai Zheng Ge Ji was compiled by Zhou Zhibiao;second,the literary form of Wu Ji Bai Mei;third,the gender of Zhou Zhibiao.The second chapter,the study of Wu Yu Cui Ya and Yuefu Shanshan.This chapter analyzes the selection tendency of these two anthologies,and compares its layout,editing style,stylistic features and musical style features with other anthologies of the same period as the reference system,and draws the conclusion that: the whole process of Wu Yu Cui Ya and Yuefu Shanshan frames the upsurge of selection of literati from late Ming Dynasty to early Qing Dynasty;the editing motivation of Wu Yu Cui Ya is Based on Wei Liangfu’s Singing Theory,which was composed of music and rhyme before the reform of Kunshan tune by Wei Liangfu,this paper provides a model of singing opera arias.On the basis of this,Yuefu Shanshan anthology added dialogues to reflect the change of music selection fashion.The notes of Wu Yu Cui Ya include five categories: revised collective music,revised Qupai,revised board position,revised lyrics,and revised singing method.Among them,the achievement of revised collection is the most outstanding The influence of music selection is far-reaching.The third chapter,the study of Wu Ji Bai Mei.Based on the statistics of the number of literary works and the analysis of the contents of the cases,the author concludes that the literary style of Wu Ji Bai Mei is not only characterized by the mainstream respect for the body,but also true in nature and not avoiding vulgarity.Starting from the trend of whoring and Huabang in the late Ming Dynasty,this paperexplores the motivation for the compilation of Wu Ji Bai Mei,which is to chant prostitutes in the form of Qu style literature and record prostitutes’ s singing activities with the general review Contrasting the works with the female poetry and literary collections compiled by the writers,the comparison with the female poetry collections compiled by the female editors shows that prostitutes’ s both have the traditional sense of respectability and the characteristics of the music,and have advanced and limited artistic features in gender perspective.The paper discusses the value of Wu Ji Bai Mei as the literary value of the flower list.The value of Qu history and the social history value of prostitute culture presented in the whole document.The fourth chapter,Zhou Zhibiao’s traditional opera criticism research.Zhou Zhibiao’s traditional opera criticism scattered in the preface and selected examples of Wu Yu Cui Ya,Yuefu Shanshan and Wujiang traditional opera theory after Wei Liangfu’s reform of Kunshan tune was studied.It summarized that Zhou Zhibiao’s traditional opera criticism was in accordance with the law,tune,lyric and music.When the original color was still true and elegant and popular,there were different views on the northern and southern tunes and the traditional opera scattered,which was the trend of the late Ming Dynasty.The reflection of Shang also reflects Zhou Zhibiao’s original ideas as a leading musician,and also reflects the influence of Xinxue as a prominent school in the ideological field of late Ming Dynasty on traditional opera theory.This is not only Zhou Zhibiao’s view of traditional opera theory,but also his value view formed in the wave of human liberation in the late Ming Dynasty.Zhou Zhibiao,as a real literati composer,made remarkable contributions to the construction of the traditional opera theory system,the enrichment of the theory of traditional opera theory and the progress of the Metrization of Nanqu.
