Bearing and giving birth to children is not only important to a family,but also meaningful to the country and the society.The born of a baby can bring happiness and the sense of security to a family.At the same time,it can produce population and labor resources needed to sustain the existence and development of our economy and society.So the government and society units should recognize the value of maternity,and support and protect maternity.In the majority of families,the husband or the wife or both of them are employees.So the protection of the maternity of employees' families occupies an important position in the whole maternity protection work.Bearing and brings up children needs much money.However,an employee should devote a lot of time and energy to deliver and care for a baby,which may affect the mother's career and increase her dropout rate.This is the main contradiction between family and work,and the core issues that the maternity protection work must focus on.Maternity protection law is a part of social security systems.The country and employers should give maternity care,leave,maternity benefits,special labor security protection,work protection to employees when they are pregnant,or recovering from delivering.As an important part of the whole maternity protection systems,maternity leave offers employees leave,maternity benefits and work protection around delivering.Maternity leave system is a vital measure to balance work and family,which can help to protect the health of mothers and new-born babies,guarantee moderate life,safeguard their legitimate rights,protect and promote the employment of female workers.However,the maternity leave system now has some problems.Its value orientation is obscure,and the rights and obligations are not fairly distributed.Also,the system cannot be well adapted to the reality,and some specifications are not reasonable.These problems weakened and limited the value of maternity leave system.Some efforts should be made to change and improve the situation.Establishing and perfecting the maternity leave system should proceed from the overall situation of maternity protection work.The value orientation of maternity leave system must be clear.We should not only protect maternity,guarantee the health of mothers and children,but also reduce the negative effect that maternity may exert on females' career.Moreover,we should rightly handle the relations between husband and wife,the relations between employees and employers,and the relations between companies and the government.We should make clear of the responsibility of maternity and protecting maternity,so that different subjects can cooperate to take actions.As to the specific provisions of maternity leave system,some limitations should be eliminated so that more workers can be protected.Then we should improve the benefits and its standards.The system must take the changing environment into account.The system should give subjects the room to communicate with each other and decide how to make use of their leave as well.Last point,we should strengthen the protection of equal employment right.With all these efforts,different subjects involved can work together to create the maternity-friendly environment and offer more powerful support and maternity protection.
