China is one of the countries with the fastest aging rate in the world.As early as 2000,China has already entered the ageing population society.At present,the proportion of people aged over 65 in the country has exceeded 10.9%.The increase in the age of the population has exacerbated the problem of unbalanced supply and demand of fresh food in the community,which is the problem of "food deserts" in China's elderly population.However,this situation has not attracted enough attention,but it would lead to a series of people's livelihood problems,such as health problems,empty nest families and social loneliness problems,and pension problems.These problems have become the most urgent social problems in China.This paper sorts out relevant research results of “food deserts” at domestic and foreign and uses sample survey methods to analyze the accessibility of fresh retail shops in the survey area,confirming that “food desert” phenomenon has appeared in Area A of Chaoyang District in Beijing.At the same time,in-depth interviews and surveys were conducted on the elderly population living in the survey area,and the interview data were grounded in the analysis of practice theory codes to identify the major causes of the “food desert” in the urban elderly population in China.On the one hand,this article confirms that the "food desert" phenomenon has appeared in Area A of Chaoyang District,Beijing.On the other hand,through in-depth interviews,we have found the main reasons that affect the "food desert" in the elderly consumer groups in our city.At the same time,it has been compared with foreign "food desert",referring to the advanced and advanced "food deserts" management strategies of foreign countries,in connection with China's "food desert" status and characteristics,and finally the article put forward feasible suggestions and countermeasures.
