As one of the most influential partners in the geopolitical sphere,the European Union has always been committed to maintaining close relations with all continents and regions in the world.The EU and the Pacific States have been working together for a long time,long-term development partnerships have been maintained with a number of countries and regions,including Australia and New Zealand.The South Pacific region,as an important part of the Pacific region,is a key target for EU development cooperation.Since the 1970s,the EU has begun to establish assistance and assistance to some countries in the South Pacific.In the past 40 years of assistance,the EU's assistance to the South Pacific island countries has been roughly divided into two major phases:The first phase is based on the framework of the EU's assistance to the ACP countries.Under this framework,the EU and a part of the South Pacific island countries initially established an aid relationship,the main content of early aid is concentrated in areas such as infrastructure construction,laying a certain foundation for cooperation between the two sides.In the 21st century,the European Union further deepens its cooperation with the South Pacific island countries,shifts from basic aid to targeted economic and political assistance,and is more in line with the national conditions and needs of the South Pacific island countries.The second phase is based on the "Pacific Regionalism Framework" jointly determined by the EU and the Pacific countries.The two sides have established a closer assistance relationship.As the cooperation between the two sides continues to deepen,the EUs links with the South Pacific region will become closer,gradually surpassing traditions.In the sense of the relationship based on aid,a deeper partnership is established.
