Marx's Discourse On Ecological Critique Of Consumption Alienation And Its Contemporary Value

With the rapid development of global economy,people increasingly enjoy the material comforts and the happiness brought by consumption.However,the alienation in consumption keeps growing,which deviates human from the nature,alienates the social relations and dissolves the essence of human life.Stimulated by consumerism,people never stop spending so the tremendous products and resources are occupied.In this case,consumption is not needed only for human survival and development but seen as an important means to realize self-value.It becomes a meaningless consumption.People are enslaved and controlled by the false desire even indulging in it.To satisfy their endless desire of material,people use the natural resources without restraint and destroy the ecological environment,which leads to the ecological deterioration,resource exhaustion and aggravation of social conflicts.People with original consciousness and rationality have gone but the slaves of desire appear.Therefore,the issue of alienation has been spreading in various fields in modern society with the times changing and people are fettered by alienation still.Marx's theory of alienation and ecological thoughts are the foundation to understand the consumption alienation in different dimensions and they are the guiding principles to deal with this difficulty.It is instructive to study and solve the matter of consumption alienation in contemporary China which on the basic situation of China,shows the more distinctive and specific features.The elimination of consumption alienation is a crucial part to construct ecological civilization so there is a need to build the concept of ecological consumption,practice the ecological consumption patterns and boost the green and low-carbon consumption.The elimination of consumption alienation and the harmony between man and nature depend on the good social conduct of spending restrainedly and reasonably.The study on the consumption alienation develops from the four parts.The first part introduces the basic definitions of consumption alienation and elaborates its causes and influences.Under the capitalism and private ownership,the consumption alienation is rooted in the interaction of labor alienation and the prevailing consumerism that also have a bad effect on ecology,social equality and human's mental and physical conditions,which reveals the nature of consumption alienation further.In the second part,based on Marx and Engels' ecological thoughts and theory of alienation,there are the critique comments on consumption alienation.The contemporary value of criticize the consumption alienation from the view of ecology is the socialist concept of ecological consumption with Chinese characteristics.So in the third part,it reviews and analyzes the top-level design and details about the socialist concept of ecological consumption with Chinese characteristics.Since the 18 th CPC National Congress,a series of policies have been launched and provided guidance for people to cultivate the ecological and healthy lifestyle and consumption pattern,promoting the construction of ecological civilization.Enormous efforts are paid to settle the difficulty of consumption alienation by advocating the concepts of diligence and frugality,replacing the extravagant and wasteful consumption with the moderate consumption and trying to form the social custom of rational consumption.The last part illustrates the practical significance of the ecological critique of consumption alienation which have a bearing on the harmonious coexistence of man and nature,the harmony and stability of society and the free and overall development of man.
