The Analysis Of The Core Ideas Of Republican Political Thought

Both the classical republic and the modern republic emphasize the "balance" of public power and public interests,which can deduce that republic is "public" and not "private",is "common" and not "exclusive ",is "middle" and not "extreme ".On the basis of that,we can regard the citizen virtue idea of public spirit,the sharing idea of public power and public interests,the mesotes idea of mixed equilibrium as the core idea of republican thought.The three ideas are defined as "public","common" and "middle".On the basis of the early political philosophers' s summary,there were two pathways about the citizen virtue idea of public spirit in modern times,namely,radical virtue value with Rousseau as the representative and conservative virtue value with Montesquieu as the representative;but in contemporary times,with the return of republican thought,citizen virtue has formed a new virtue value,namely,the rational virtue value of patriotism.The sharing ideas of adherence to the "common" is the common sharing of public power and public interests,which has a long historical mature process,namely from the thinking of ancient majority tyranny,to the establishment of the people sovereignty value,and to the formation of the modern sharing way.The mesotes idea of mixed equilibrium emphasizes the principle of "middle" and no "extreme" with sharing,which is not only a kind of principle,but also a kind of means.On the one hand,mesotes refers to the equality of differences and no extreme by a static sense,which is a typical with Aristotle's proportion equality;on the other hand,it refers to the operation mode by a dynamic sense,namely the mixed equilibrium and the balance of separate powers on the basis of law rules.Those two aspects interpret the mesotes together.As the three core ideas of republican thought,the citizen virtue idea of public spirit,the sharing idea of public power and public interests,and the mesotes idea of mixed equilibrium,interpret the republican thought together.
