With the aging population,Chinese society is facing various social problems caused by aging.Among them, fraud targeted at the older adults is particularly prominent. With various advanced technologies used in the fraud, the fraud problem may be more difficult to solve for older adults.Specifically, the usage of telecommunication technologies in fraud, fraudsters can achieve their goals without facing older adults directly, which makes fraud more unable to fight against. The various types of fraud not only bring the older adults huge economic losses, but also the serious health damages, some of the victimizations even lost their lives.Although actions on policies and services have been taken to fight fraud at the macro level, the last stand is always individuals whose reactions to potential fraud is crucial. There are few studies on fraud aimed at Chinese older adults, especially from the perspective of human factors. Therefore, this research aims to explore the following questions:(1)In the traditional form of fraud with direct contact with victimizations, what factors influence older adults' trust towards sci-tech health products?(2)In the form of remote fraud with indirect contact with victimizations, what strategies are used to fight against telecommunication fraud by older adults? What factors influence older adults' reactions? What's the difference between these strategies and fraudster's tricks?(3)In the form of fraud without money involved, why older adults trust fraud information? How does emotion affect this judgment process?Study I mainly explored the factors affecting older adults' trust towards sci-tech health products. The researcher constructed a structured interview questionnaire and invited older adults from Chongqing's urban and rural areas.Through the qualitative analysis of review, the researcher found that older adults with stronger loneliness and lower ability to "identify things " are more vulnerable to sci-tech health products fraud. The usage of pictures of authorities in the leaflets of sci-tech health products and the provision of relevant information of the products will increase older adults' trust. In addition, older adults are more likely to trust sci-tech health products promoted through television advertisements compared with those promoted through newspapers.Study 2 was a face-to-face study, consisting of 3 phases.13 short messages were made up by the researchers.Among them, eight messages were fraud messages, and the rest were distractors.60 older adults were invited to participate in the SMS fraud simulation test. The results showed interpersonal trust and need for cognition will influence the identification of telecommunications fraud of older adults. In addition, older adults will take different anti-fraud strategies and these strategies were influenced by individual personality traits and cognition factors.Specifically, older adults with higher academic and income levels and lower need for cognition(NFC)are more likely to adopt extremely conservative strategies, which is that they regard everything is fraud.Through the qualitative analysis of more than 120 Supreme Court Verdicts on telecommunications fraud, the researchers found that the most widely used fraudulent tactics was role-playing and the most frequently used roles are government officials. In addition, fraudsters will choose to play a corresponding role according to the specific personal information of older adults, and create corresponding specific scenarios to enrich the fraud, while older adults can only take corresponding anti-fraud strategies by relying on some risk factors to identify fraud.Study 3 aimed to understand how emotions influence older adults' judgment on fraud without money involved. To achieve that,40 health-related articles were made up.Among them,24 articles were fraud articles, and the rest were distractors.59 older adults were invited to participate in the online article judgment test. The results showed that emotion will influence older adults' trust on the fraud without money involved.Specifically, older adults who feel happier will mistake fraud information as true one.Regardless of whether the information is fraud or not, feelings of fear or disgust will greatly increase older adults' trust on the information.
