An Empirical Study Of The Impact Of Regional Corruption On R&D Investment Of Enterprises

In August 2013,the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China passed the 2013-2017 year work plan of establishing and improving the system of punishing and preventing corruption.The research focus on corruption and anti-corruption has lasted for a long time,but there is still little research on the impact of corruption on R&D investment.According to the national science and technology Expenditure Statistics Bulletin released by the National Bureau of statistics in 2016,the intensity of R&D investment in China has reached 2.11% in 2016,but there is still a gap between with the developed countries.How to further improve the R&D investment of our enterprises? What is the relationship between corruption and R&D investment?In order to study the above problems,this paper combines theoretical analysis and empirical test to explore the impact of regional corruption on R&D investment and its path of action,and to study the role of property rights in this regulation.This paper summarizes the research status of corruption at home and abroad,and then analyzes the impact and effect of regional corruption on Enterprise R&D input,and on this basis puts forward relevant hypotheses,constructs a model,and studies the above problems through empirical test.The regression results show that:1)there is a significant negative correlation between regional corruption and enterprise R&D investment;2)regional corruption has a more significant inhibitory effect on R&D investment in inland areas than in coastal areas;3)regional corruption has a more significant inhibitory effect on R&D investment in the 2010-2013 stage compared with the 2014-2016 stage;4)regional corruption reduces R&D investment by reducing the human cost of R&D,that is,R&D human cost plays a part of mediating role in the inhibition of regional corruption on R&D investment;5)The intermediary role of excessive hospitality in the impact of regional corruption on R&D investment has not been fully verified,but the negative correlation between corruption and R&D investment is a basic conclusion.;6)compared with state-owned enterprises,regional corruption has a more significant inhibitory effect on R&D investment of private enterprises;7)compared with the central government controlled enterprises,regional corruption has no obvious effect on R&D investment of local government controlled enterprises.Based on the above empirical results,this paper puts forward some suggestions for further improvement of China's anti-corruption policy and decision-making of R&D investment releasing the promoting role of R&D to the development of enterprises and the development of national economy.
