Our country is promoting E-Government and building service-oriented government, but the academic research on E-government is mainly about specific technology and management. There are few studies on the impact of E-Government on the economy,so it is necessary to conduct a study deeply on it.E-Government has many advantages, such as convenience, efficiency, low cost, stability and reliability. Thus it brings many benefits to government, residents and enterprises. The development of E-Government may have a positive impact on FDI.This paper analyses this from both theoretical and empirical aspects. There are many academic studies on FDI.The theoretical research in this field in western academia is very deep. The research on FDI in China is relatively more focused on practice.Foreign direct investment has increased employment in China, brought advanced science and technology and management experiences, and played a positive role in China's modernization. However, the growth of FDI data in China has been slow, even declining in recent years. It is necessary to take effective measures to attract more foreign investment in China. Therefore, the study of the impact of E-government on foreign direct investment has important practical significance. The innovation of this paper is mainly to expand the related research fields of E-Government,explore the relevant impact of E-Government on the economic field, and use the latest 2011-2017 annual data of 285 cities in the country. The data is newer and more comprehensive. This paper finds that the level of E-Government development has a positive correlation with FDI.The higher the level of E-Government development, the more attractive the city is to FDI.Different levels of marketization, urbanization and economic openness will not change the impact of E-Government development on FDI,but compared with non-coastal cities, the impact of E-Government development level on FDI in coastal cities is smaller.
