The Impact Of Community Publics Goods And Social Capital On China's Rural Elderly Health

With the speeding up of urbanization,the rural labor force migrating to cities,"rural hollowing" problem is more serious,the rural aging facing greater challenges.The rural elderly population increasing,health is not very good.How to improve the health status of rural elderly becomes an important subject with widespread concern.At present,the social capital's role in the elderly health get more attention from scholars.On the other hand,the regional economic development level is not balance in our country,the community public product appear obvious regional differences.Therefore,Based on the data of China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study in 2013,this study take the simultaneous equation model from the Angle of commumity public product research the influence of social capital to the health of the elderly in rural areas in China.Concrete research content including the following points:1.Statistical analysis of the health and social capital of rural elderly in China.First of all measured the health of rural elderly and social capital,from the overall analysis of China's rural elderly health and social capital and found that China's elderly health and social capital status is not optimistic,the average level of self-assessment in general,On average,every elderly person suffers from a chronic disease;the overall stock of social capital is low,and the vast majority is lower.In addition,we also found that the health and social capital of the elderly in the age,gender,marital status,education and other aspects of showing a certain difference.In areas where the level of community public goods is rich,this difference will be further narrowed,and vice versa will be further expanded.2.Discussing the influence of social capital on the health of the elderly in rural areas.In this part,we will use the econometric model to conduct empirical research on the relationship between social capital and health.Firstly,we discuss the influence of social capital on the elderly's health in rural areas from the perspectives of self-reported health and chronic disease.The social capital in individual level show positive influence on the health of the rural elderly,and the total effect on self-reported health is 0.072,direct effect is 0.057;The social capital on chronic disease show a total effect of 0.289,and direct effect of 0.214.In addition,the way of life shows a mediation effect on self-reported health and whether suffering from chronic diseases,accounting for the total effect 19.92%and 25.61%respectively,it shows that in the individual level,social capital show positive influence on the health of the elderly is conducted by the mediation of life style.Second,we discuss different influence of community level of public products on the health of the elderly in rural areas.Under the different level of the community public goods,the effects of the social capital on the health of the elderly rural areas show significant differences.The higher level of community public products,the smaller effects of social capital on health of the elderly in the rural.There shows the contrary effects on the topic of chronic diseases,the higher level of community public products and social capital,the greater the proportion of not suffering from chronic diseases.In addition,the increase of the community public product will decrease the influence of social capital on self-reported health via lifestyle,but increases the effect the proportion of rural elderly people suffering from chronic diseases.3.The implications in policy.To improve the health of the elderly in rural areas,we need to play the role of social capital,improve the life style of elderly in the rural areas,rich the public goods,improve the infrastructure,and promote the establishment of various NGOs,improve social security system,enhance the level of rural social security,make the rural elderly people can enjoy a healthy and happy old age.
