Research On Marxist Women's Liberation Thought During The Second International Period

The Second International period was an important historical period of international communist movements.A large number of ideas emerging in this period played an indispensable role in the development history of Marxism.Nevertheless,the academic circles have not yet systematically studied the content,characteristics and contributions of Marxist women's liberation ideas.By summarizing the historical factors of women's liberation movements during the Second International period,this paper expounds on Marxist scholars'main ideas about women's liberation.Research shows that the main content of women's liberation ideas of this period includes:women's liberation can only be realized in a socialist society,and without women's economic independence and political equality,no human liberation would be realized;it is necessary to combine women's liberation with capitalist feminist movements,reformist movements and proletariat movements;it is necessary to free labor from capital.Following that,characteristics of Marxist women's liberation ideas during this period are analyzed from different perspectives.Results indicate that transition and alteration of the era waged a persistent debate on Marxist women's liberation ideas.The "golden era" enriched Marxist women's liberation ideas.In terms of the content,Marxist women's ideologists communicated the Marxist women theories and proletariat movements,which were complicatedly connected with Marxist women's liberation ideas.In terms of the historical period,Marxist women's liberation ideas of this period were imprinted with the traditions of the First International revolution to become the transfer station of women's liberation ideas of the Third International.Marxist women's liberation ideas of this period made remarkable contributions,which promoted in-depth development of Marxist women's liberation movements:(1)advocating and protecting women's labor;(2)emphasizing on women's political participation and fighting for women's right to vote;(3)promoting gender equality;(4)playing an important role in establishment of the "International Women's Day";(5)setting up the International Women's Secretariat,and advocating the progress of women's liberation.Ideologically,the era value of women's liberation ideas were demonstrated,which,in turn,enriched and further developed Marxist women's liberation ideas.
