In the study of contemporary anthropology,Ethnic groups not only the construction movement of ideas in modernity, but also the shaping process of entity units. This process can distinguish the "boundaries" of ethnic groups by Fredrik Barth,or shape the "core" of ethnic groups by Marx Weber. This study will focus on the relationship between the Qiang and Dayu in Beichuan County,Sichuan Province, from Weber's theoretical perspective,so as to examine the dynamic relationship between the Dayu myth and the ethnic identity of Beichuan Qiang, and put this construction process under the national system,to interpret in detail the identity and reputation of Beichuan Qiang, how to be shaped together and how to influence the ethnic group. This paper is mainly divided into five parts: Chapter one elaborates the reason and significance of this paper, and combs the anthropological research on ethnic theory involved in this paper. In addition,it introduces the research methods and innovation points;Chapter two combs the history of the Qiang people.Firstly,it clarifies the historical context of the "Qiang" and the Qiang ethnic group in the literature, and pays attention to the research stage and achievements of the modern and contemporary Qiang.Secondly,it examines how the records and changes of Dayu's birthplace in historical documents gradually relate to the Qiang people in Beichuan.Chapter III will examine the changes and connotations of the activities of "shaping the Yellow Emperor" in the late Qing Dynasty, and explore the construction process of Dayu's myth, including how the truth contained in the legend of Dayu's water control strengthens the connection between the Qiang and the Huaxia ethnic groups. And how to implement it from religion and culture to Beichuan;Chapter IV focuses on the discussion of different discourse systems of Dayu and Qiang, such as the realistic demands of intellectuals in the writing of books. On the other hand, how do the people respond to and participate in these historical changes? Finally, the increasingly fierce contention for Dayu's hometown and the current situation of Beichuan are discussed.Meanwhile, the reputation competition and comparative study after the earthquake are analyzed. To sum up,based on the ethnic viewpoint of "core theory",this paper attempts to provide ethnographic cases for the "core theory" ethnic group theory through how the Dayu myth is shaped by historical and social forces, intertwined with the ethnic identity of the Beichuan Qiang people, and jointly participated in the national construction and ethnic identity.
