A Study On Labor Migration In Thailand

The transnational flow of labor is one of the important characteristics of globalization and regional integration in today's world.As an important form of cross-border immigration,labor migration has become an important driving force for economic growth and development in exporting and importing countries.Thailand has achieved rapid economic growth in the past few decades,becoming an emerging economic growth body,attracting a large number of migrant workers,and Thailand has also changed from a labor importing country to a labor importing country.Migrant workers migrated to Thailand for various reasons,making a significant contribution to Thailand's economic and social development,making up for the labor shortage in Thailand,and having an inestimable impact on the economy and society of Thailand and the exporting countries.However,the number of illegal immigrants,the frequent trafficking of human beings,and the violation of the human rights of labor have brought challenges to Thailand's national interests and national security.Thailand has issued a number of short-term policies for labor migration issues aimed at the effective management of migrant workers.Due to various factors such as inconsistent policies,the management of labor migration has had little effect,and many key issues have still not been resolved.This paper firstly sorts out the history and current situation of migrant workers in Thailand,and on this basis,analyzes the motivations of labor immigrants entering Thailand from the aspects of “thrust” and “pull”.Secondly,from the perspective of Thailand and the country of origin,the paper explores the economic and social impacts of labor migration,and focuses on illegal immigration,human trafficking,labor human rights,and immigration repatriation related to migrant workers.Finally,it summarizes and analyzes the immigration policies and management measures of migrant workers in Thailand,and proposes rationalization suggestions for their existing problems.
