Driven by military informatization,Internet of Things(IoT)is flourishing in military applications with its concept of “internet of everything”.As an important wireless communication technology in sensing layer of IoT,ZigBee is promising in battlefield awareness,personnel equipment controlling and target tracking.However,potential security dangers of ZigBee limited its further military application.Since it works in 2.4 GHz opening frequency band with limited channels,ZigBee is vulnerable to jamming attacks.Among numerous modes of jamming attack,reactive jamming is generally regarded as the most threatening one.Reactive jammer keeps silent when channel is idle,but starts jamming immediately after it senses transmission of packets,of which jamming signal is simultaneous and homogeneous to normal communication signal.Hence,reactive jamming is hard to detect due to its short duration and high efficiency.Obviously,reactive jamming has severely threatened the security of ZigBee networks.Therefore,this paper focuses on resisting reactive jamming in ZigBee networks by detecting and defending.And a prototype system that is able to resist reactive jamming is designed and implemented.On the basis of studying the stack architecture and security service specification of ZigBee,reactive jamming attack resisting framework is built according to the principle and progress of reactive jamming.Resisting guideline of “detecting-protecting-localizing” is proposed in the framework,providing theoretical guidance for detecting and defending scheme and prototype system implementation.According to the reactive jamming attack resisting framework,anomalies of jammed ZigBee network are analyzed,and multiple level sequence mechanism and error bits detecting algorithm are designed to check the RSSI of error bits.Thus a reactive jamming detecting scheme is proposed,which achieves high detecting ratio with relatively lower communication and energy overheads.Combining proactive and reactive defending methods,a reactive jamming defending scheme applicable to ZigBee networks is proposed,which aims to defend reactive jamming from two aspects: transmission protection and jammer localization.Time varying mask code(TVMC)is designed to ensure that jammer cannot monitor the channel effectively,and jamming signal strength(JSS)could be collected by sending inducing messages into the channel,which is used to localize the jammer through genetic algorithm with convergence to global optimal.The proposed scheme could effectively protect the packet transmission while localize the jammer with higher precision compared with the similar schemes.Based on those works,reactive jamming resisting prototype system of ZigBee networks is designed and implemented by hardware and software technologies,which is further tested and analyzed through experiments.The experimental results reveal that the prototype system is able to achieve reactive jamming detection and defense function effectively,which fulfills the expected goals.The research results in this paper have enhanced the ability of detecting and defending reactive jamming for ZigBee networks,which provides information security technology support for the further use of ZigBee in military fields.
