Research On Russian Military's Reconnaissance Work In Syria

Since the Syria civil war broke out,the lasting problems of ethnics,religions and politics inside Syria keeps deteriorating,thus giving the surrounding countries,outside countries and international organizations the opportunity to intervene.Syria government started to lose the power to control the situation.At the same time,the terrorist organizations inside and outside Syria have seized the chance to develop and expand themselves.Especially the Islamic State controlled over 70% of Syria's territory once for a while.Assad's regime was on the brink of collapse.On September 30^th 2015,Russia's armed forces began to strike the insurgent groups in Syria at the request of Syria president Assad.After nearly 3 years' operation,141 residential settlement has been liberated and over 87000 illegal militants have been eliminated.As the liberation operation in southern Syria ended on August 2nd 2018,Idlib becomes the last province to be liberated in Syria.Russian armed forces' reconnaissance operation has played a key role in this military success.Russia's reconnaissance operation provided in-time,accurate and plenty information materials,supporting the combat operation effectively,and allowing this war to reach its goals.This article mainly does a systematic research and study on Russian armed forces' reconnaissance operation in Syria,analyze its characteristics and defects,and then draw experiences and lessons from it,thus gaining beneficial enlightenment for us,in order to promote the reconnaissance operation of our armed forces under the circumstances and tendency of informatization and global anti-terrorism actions.This thesis consists of five parts.The first chapter is introduction,which elaborates the research purpose and value of this topic,the literature review at home and abroad,the research methods and main difficulties,the innovations of the thesis and the definition and connotation of main concepts involved in the thesis.The second chapter introduces the severe challenges facing Russian armed forces' reconnaissance operation in Syria,including unfamiliar environment,bad weathers,far away from home,difficult to get assistance,multiple interference,arduous tasks and the cunning of terrorists.The third chapter analyzes Russian armed forces' practice from the four aspects of preparation,coordination of resources,definition of authority,scientific application of reconnaissance methods.The fourth chapter evaluates and analyzes Russian armed forces' reconnaissance operation and concludes its guiding ideology,characteristics and defects.The fifth chapter focuses on the enlightenment of Russian armed forces' reconnaissance operation for us based on the reality of our armed forces' reconnaissance operation.
