Nationalism is a hot issue of general concern to the international community. In the early days of the end of World War II,it encouraged the independence of a large number of oppressed colonies.National secession is one of the main manifestations of nationalism in today's society, and it affects the national unity and social stability of countries around the world to varying degrees. As an old capitalist country,Britain also has to face the problem of national secession, especially Scotland.National secession in Scotland has a long history.Since its merger with England in 1707 as the "United Kingdom of Great Britain",Scotland has always maintained its own culture and system, and the Scottish people have always been proud of being Scottish. After World War I,Scottish national secession began to emerge, and the Scottish National Party, which advocated Scottish independence, came into being. After World War II,the overall strength of Britain declined significantly, and Scotland's calls for secession followed. In 2011,the Scottish National Party fully ruled in Scotland. With its ruling advantages, the party actively promoted the development of national separatism in Scotland. In 2016,the British referendum decided to leave the European Union, but the majority of people in Scotland supported staying in Europe. The Scottish people felt that their opinions were ignored by the central government.National secession in Scotland, led by the Scottish National Party, strongly called for a second time Scottish referendum. The future trend of secession in Scotland depends largely on the three political entities: Scotland, the UK and the EU.First,Scotland's national sentiment, political landscape, and economic development will become intrinsic factors that affect the secession trend in Scotland.Second, whether the British government's achievement on Brexit negotiation can meet Scotland's expectations, and its attitude towards second independent referendum in Scotland, are important factors in the development of the Scottish secession trend. In the end, whether the EU official position will see a major change from opposition to support for Scottish independence, and the costeffectiveness of Scotland's departure from Britain and entering Europe will affect the secession process in Scotland. This article attempts to analyze the historical context of the development of Scottish nationalism and analyze the inherent factors of the development of Scottish nationalism.Scottish national secession has its own historical factors. Her merger with England is mainly based on considerations of economic, political, and military interests, and lacks family ties in cultural ties, thus showing a greater tendency to separate. At the same time, combined with the interests of national separatists led by the Scottish National Party since the Brexit referendum in 2016,this article will summarize why Scottish national secession was inspired by Brexit and look forward to the future relationship between Scotland and the United Kingdom.
